Contra Corners - Dwayne's Bio

Hi Everyone,

Just a little note about me. I am currently a Pediatrician in Louisville in private practice.

I started contra dancing while in medical school in Kentucky in 1981. I just wanted to check it out, but was dragged onto the floor before I even got to sit down. My initial group taught Contra, Scottish, English, Circles, Squares, and Kentucky Running Sets. I moved to West Virginia and learned how to call (not much dancing there then). I then moved to Texas and transformed a square dance group into a contra dance group in Austin. That group is viable to this day. I have now been calling for 20 years now, but mostly local dances due to my work schedule. I am now interested in calling at your dance.

Because of this background I can call a variety of types of dances for a variety of levels of dancers. I can work well with any band and can get any group of people dancing on some level. I am available for weekend dances and, with enough notice, some weekday dances. I have called in Louisville, Lexington, Frankfort, Bloomington, Indianapolis, Berea, Cincinnati, Dayton, Point Pleasant, Charleston, Athens, Boone, Chapel Hill, Greenville, Tampa, Orlando, Cocoa Beach, Sarasota, Nashville, Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. I have dance at many, many more venues. I would love to do your dance weekend !
